Kn2 Series

Every project begins with a simple question: where do we start?

Do we start by modeling vintage synthesizers? Do we tackle complex studio equipment? Or… do we start with something simple?
A guitar stompbox seemed like a good candidate. Those compact aluminum boxes look harmless enough, right? Just a couple of knobs and a footswitch. How hard could it be? Except there are a lot of them. So which stompbox do we choose? What’s even the difference between them? Do we sort them by size? By color? By how cool the graphics look? The possibilities are endless.
So we needed a system. A way to bring order to the chaos.

Our solution came from applying a highly rigorous scientific process.
Our knuckle-dragging scientists gathered every stompbox and stompbox-adjacent device they could get their hands on and laid them out side by side. After staring blankly at this chaotic pile for a while, a pattern began to emerge.

The answer was obvious. How did we not see it before?
The most logical way to classify stompboxes is clearly by the number of knobs they have.
So how many knobs should we start with? One seemed too little. Three felt a bit ambitious for a first attempt. Two knobs it is.

And that’s how the Kn2 series was born - a collection of stompbox models with exactly two knobs.
Simple. Focused. And just complicated enough to be interesting.

Now came the easy part: modeling them.
